The Creative

Goal: To express the personal and the universal through their creative work.

Commonly associated with: Writer, painter, sculptor, film-maker, fashion designer, singer, dancer, actor.

Examples: J.K. Rowling, Meryl Streep, Jane Austen, Colleen Dinnigan, Katherine Bigelow.

If this archetype seeks expression, you will be drawn to pursuits such as painting, sculpting, writing, music or acting. You may become interested in photography, graphic and fashion design, dancing or film-making. The possibilities are huge and limited only to your imagination.

The Creative archetype may come as a surprise, especially if you have never seen yourself as an artist or as possessing any creative abilities. Nevertheless, your sense of the world takes an artistic shape as you seek authentic expression through creativity. You may decide to pursue art for your own pleasure, taking satisfaction in the discovery of new or latent talents. On the other hand, you may want to be more public about your work and seek to publish or display it in some way.

Whether you are familiar with this archetype or not, the important thing is to give it space and attention. Allow its expression by enrolling in a pottery or painting class you’ve had your eye on or buy yourself a set of oil paints or watercolours. The creative impulse is powerful and a gift to yourself and others. Now is the chance to explore your creativity. Don’t miss it.
